VALLEY-WIDE EVENT, all are welcome!

Thursday, November 13th at 7 pm: Author Kate Braestrup speaks about her book, her work, and answers questions. NH Humanities Council Humanist Marcia Blaine will facilitate a discussion after the author’s presentation. Refreshments served after the program. At the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in North Conway, NH, on the corner of Main and Grove Streets. Parking is available on the street, in the TD Banknorth parking lot a short distance north of the church, or in the adjoining municipal parking lot.

Libraries around the valley have planned these programs that tie in with various themes presented in the book Here If You Need Me.

Search and Rescue in New Hampshire’s Forests, NH Fish & Game Conservation Officer Brian Abrams (Madison and Bartlett programs) or Brad Morse (Tamworth) will present a slideshow and talk on how search and rescue works in New Hampshire, from descriptions of actual rescues to a discussion of NH’s unique policy of cooperating with volunteer organizations for search and rescue missions. Three different locations, three different days:

  • Wednesday, October 15th at 7 pm at the Madison Library
  • Tuesday, October 28th at 7 pm at the Bartlett Public Library
  • Wednesday, November 12 at 7 pm the Cook Memorial Library, Tamworth.

Widows in 18th Century New England, Plymouth State History professor Marcia Blaine will depict the challenges widows faced in New England’s past. A NH Humanities Council Program.

  • Monday, October 20th at 7 pm at the Conway Public Library

Looking for a discussion at the Chocorua Public Library? While copies of the book can be borrowed from the Chocorua Public Library, Director Gary Mason encourages readers to attend disucssions at libraries nearby, the Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth Village or the Madison Library.

    Check at the top of the page, the location has been updated: Nov. 13th, 7 pm at the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in North Conway (across from White Birch Books.)
