Photo of familyGiving New Hampshire’s abused children a voice in court, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers advocate in New Hampshire’s courts for the best interests of abused and neglected children, so they can grow up in safe, permanent homes.

Join us for 1 Book 1 Valley’s third program related to themes in this year’s book, The Talk-Funny Girl on Wednesday, October 2 at 7 pm at the Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth. Representatives from CASA-NH will speak about child advocacy, why it’s important and how their program works.

Discovering New England Stone Walls

Photo of Kevin Gardner1 Book 1 Valley’s second event will be at the Conway Public Library on Monday, September 23 at 6 pm. Kevin Gardner, author of The Granite Kiss: Traditions and Techniques of Building New England Stone Walls, will give an informal talk about the history, technique, and aesthetics of stone wall building, all while building a sample miniature tabletop stone wall.
