One Book One Valley will be back in 2021! Mark your calendars for our big author event: Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 7:00 PM at the newly renovated Majestic Theatre in Conway Village. We’ll also be livestreaming the event, which is very exciting. Participating libraries will have copies of Paul Doiron’s newest book, Dead by Dawn to lend by the beginning of July, and will be happy to lend any of his previous books if you’re just getting started or catching up with the Mike Bowditch series. Check back here for news about more One Book One Valley events around Labor Day.
For the first time in 15 years, this week will not bring us together for One Book One Valley’s annual meet-the-author big event. Over the years, we have heard from many readers that this community coming-together event is the reason they participate.
Early on in the pandemic, our committee agreed that holding an online event instead would just not be the same. So, we asked the author scheduled for 2020, Paul Doiron, if he would come in 2021. He said yes.
So, the good news is there’s a whole series of novels to read! And you have a year to read them! Doiron writes the Warden Investigator Mike Bowditch series of mystery novels set in Maine. There are eleven novels in the series so far. Check them out, read them, and plan to join us in October 2021.
Jackson Public Library hosted this program on October 6, 2019 as part of 2019’s One Book One Valley series of programs.
Please join us as we acknowledge and thank the businesses that are a big part of this year’s One Book One Valley program.
White Birch Books: From year one, Laura Cummings has been a core organizer, connecting us to authors and readers, providing books for libraries at a steep discount, and spreading the word about the featured book, and all books, and reading!
Black Cap Grille: Dine to Donate on the night of our Big Event has been a great fundraiser for our program for several years now. Program organizers have had some wonderful dinners with One Book One Valley authors over the years at Black Cap. (Monica Wood recommends the salmon.)
Samuel O’Reilly House B & B: providing accommodations for this year’s author. She’ll be well taken care of by Owner/Innkeeper Jason Zube and General Manager/Innkeeper Matthew Spofford.
Minute Man Press: has been printing our bookmarks and posters for years. They always turn the job around in record time at a busy time of the year so we’re ready to go right after Labor Day.
One Book One Valley is a big, cooperative, community effort. Librarians, library Friends, grant foundations, local businesses and organizations, individuals who volunteer to present programs, and readers–all work together to make this program happen. Thank you!
