Author Chris Bohjalian’s use of characters from Gatsby in The Double Bind works because we are all so familiar with Fitzgerald’s novel. Hardly anyone has left high school in the past four decades (or so) not having read Gatsby. But, whether you read the book ages ago or last year, you may still want to know “What’s so great about The Great Gatsby?” Why were we all required to read it?
