Thank you to everyone who came out on October 26, a dark and rainy night, for Monica Wood’s talk and Q&A about The One-in-a-Million Boy. What a warm and engaging speaker! Monica told us that failure is the reason the book got set aside initially, and how that same failure resulted in the freeing decision to expand her writing to memoir (We Were the Kennedys) and playwriting (Papermaker). Thanks to the encouragement of her “forbearing” husband, Monica found that coming back to this book after those other writing experiences made all the difference, and resulted in the book we all enjoyed. At the end of the evening, she shared a very entertaining slideshow of covers from international editions of The One-in-a-Million Boy.
