Discovering New England Stone Walls

Photo of Kevin Gardner1 Book 1 Valley’s second event will be at the Conway Public Library on Monday, September 23 at 6 pm. Kevin Gardner, author of The Granite Kiss: Traditions and Techniques of Building New England Stone Walls, will give an informal talk about the history, technique, and aesthetics of stone wall building, all while building a sample miniature tabletop stone wall.

All are welcome, this event is free and open to the public. Please come!

Two events this week

Monday at 7 pm: Thriller, Suspense, Horror, True Crime: Reading Scary Stories, at the Conway Public Library. NH writer Richard Adams Carey will speak about writing and reading stories that both frighten and fascinate us.  Carey’s current project is a work-in-progress entitled Their Town, a book about the murders of four people in Colebrook in 1997 at the hands of Carl Drega. Presentation will be followed by a suspense/horror book swap. FMI call 603-447-5552.

Tuesday at 7 pm: Domestic Violence in Carroll County, at the Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth. Tamworth resident, and County Attorney candidate Robin Gordon, will speak along with Melissa Smith, the Carroll County victim/witness advocate, and Tamworth’s own Sgt Penny Colby, named in Gardner’s book as a resource. Also, there are three book discussions of Love You More this week: Monday at the Conway Public Library and at the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library in Lovell, and on Wednesday at the Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth.
