Big Event this week!

photo of Lisa GardnerReaders from across the Mount Washington Valley will gather on Thursday, October 25 at 7 pm at the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in North Conway Village. Lisa Gardner, author of this year’s 1 Book 1 Valley selection, “Love You More,” will speak about her book, her writing, research, and more. All are welcome at this free event, whether or not they have read the book ahead of time.

White Birch Books will have copies of Love You More and other books by Lisa Gardner available for sale and signing after the program.

There is still time to attend a book discussion at a local library before Thursday’s big event: Monday at 7 pm in Madison, Tuesday at 12:30 pm in Effingham, and Wednesday at 5:00 pm in Jackson.

1 Book 1 Valley is funded by grants from the Pequawket Foundation and the Kendal C. and Anna Ham Charitable Foundation, along with financial support from participating libraries’ Friends groups and White Birch Books.

Rebecca Rule “Crosscut” program this week

Rebecca Rule photoWriter, humorist, and storyteller Rebecca Rule is a NH treasure–her New Hampshire Humanities Council programs are continually popular, many folks travel miles to attend them. Fortunately for One Book, One Valley planners, Rebecca Rule introduced a new program this year, “Crosscut: Stories of logging, the mills, and life in the Androscoggin Valley,” on a topic aligned with themes in the book “Go With Me.”

“Crosscut” was presented at the beginning of October in Bartlett, but, happily, everyone will have another chance to see the program on Thursday evening, Oct. 21 at 7 pm at the Whitney Community Center in Jackson. Don’t miss it!
